Objects Overlap in Roblox Build
When objects overlap, identify the actual interference: appearance, blocked movement, ambiguous interaction or covered feedback. Move only the conflicting role or boundary, and preserve the object's intended action. Overlap in a screenshot does not by itself prove a collision defect.
Symptom
Overlapping game objects obscure meaning, interaction, movement or necessary feedback.
Immediate action
Identify each object's role and the exact interference caused by the overlap.
Diagnostic branches
- The overlap is visual but does not block action.
- Improve role recognition or cue visibility without changing mechanics unnecessarily.
- The intended passage or interaction is blocked.
- Specify the local traversable or actionable boundary and preserve nearby anchors.
- The wrong harmless target responds to an action.
- Separate the competing interaction regions and their labels.
- Interference appears only during movement or an outcome panel.
- Repair that specific state rather than accepting a clean starting screenshot.
Least-destructive change
Change the local conflicting relationship while keeping the route, role and working interactions stable.
Retest
- The previously obscured role is recognizable in the interfering state.
- Movement or harmless interaction works from relevant approach directions.
- Protected goal and route anchors have not moved accidentally.
Escalation
Keep an annotated view and observed interaction trace if the interference persists. Do not infer a particular collision setting, object hierarchy or hit-testing implementation from overlap alone.
Working notes
Name the objects and their roles before changing placement. A decoration behind a goal may be harmless; a decorative object that looks collectible or hides the goal cue is a communication problem. A physical passage that cannot be traversed needs a different observation from visual crowding.
Compare the visual overlap with ordinary interaction. Note where the player can walk, which object responds to the intended action and whether required feedback remains readable. Do not use a paid control to determine which overlapping target receives input.
Describe an exclusion relationship instead of asking to spread everything out. The approach to a basket should remain clear, a hazard should not cover an input target, and a success message should not obscure the next action. Specify which anchor must stay so a local spacing change does not relocate the entire route.
Retest from the relevant directions and states. A layout can look clear at the start but overlap after a moving object arrives or a result panel appears. Inspect the actual interfering state again; a cleaner initial screenshot is not enough to confirm the repair.
Examples
- Role conflict: a bright decoration covers the return basket and resembles the collectible. Move the decoration outside the basket's approach area while preserving the basket location and delivery behavior.
- Proposed repair: Keep the goal and route fixed. Separate the decorative crate from the doorway so the intended passage is visibly clear and traversable in both directions. Do not change player size or movement speed in the same edit.
- Moving-state check: the starting scene is clear, but a moving obstacle later covers the on-screen action cue. Record that arrival state and specify the protected cue area, not only the initial object positions.
