When Build Refuses a Brand-Based Concept

A brand-based concept may depend on more than a logo. Identify whether the loop still works without the real company's name, product identity, packaging, slogans or implied endorsement. An original fictional business is a redesign option; hiding a logo while retaining the same promotional premise is not a supported bypass.

Symptom

A refused or uncertain concept depends on a real brand, promotional identity or implied commercial promise.

Immediate action

Separate the playable business activity from the identity and promises tied to the brand.

Diagnostic branches

The activity works with an independently designed fictional business.
Replace brand expression coherently while preserving the original gameplay task.
The concept relies on a real product reward or endorsement claim.
Remove the unestablished promise or resolve its legitimate basis before proceeding.
The project requires licensed promotional use.
Verify rights and platform requirements without assuming permission forces tool acceptance.

Least-destructive change

Replace the brand-dependent premise with truthful original player value instead of disguising branding.

Retest

  • The fictional concept stands without recognizable brand expression.
  • No in-game statement implies an unverified real-world reward or affiliation.
  • Rights and platform acceptance remain separately verified or unresolved.

Escalation

Seek appropriate rights or platform clarification for genuine promotional projects. This is a redesign checklist, not legal advice or an advertising approval.

Working notes

Start with the actual refusal and the role the brand plays in the concept. Is the game about organizing deliveries, serving customers or managing a workshop, or is its main purpose to reproduce or promote a particular business? Do not assume a generic error proves a trademark finding.

Map the brand-dependent promises separately from the mechanic. A player should not be told that virtual progress earns an actual product, official reward or real-world offer unless that claim is legitimately established and permitted. Removing the brand's visible mark does not make an unsupported promise truthful.

For a fictional alternative, choose original goods, signage, packaging and business story around the functional loop. Keep all rewards and destinations clear as part of the game's authored concept rather than implying commercial affiliation. Do not replace the real name with a confusingly similar spelling while keeping the same identifying presentation.

If the project genuinely relies on licensed promotional use, resolve rights and applicable platform requirements through legitimate channels before assuming Build can produce it. Documentation of permission and tool acceptance are separate questions; this guide neither validates a contract nor promises that a generator will accept a licensed request.

Examples

  • Independent business concept: a fictional repair kiosk sorts damaged weather instruments, assigns each to the correct workbench and displays completion when the item is ready. Give the kiosk its own signs and product shapes; no real purchase or company endorsement is implied.
  • Dependency question: if removing a real-world coupon promise removes the entire reason to play, the concept needs a new player benefit, not merely a different logo. Define an honest in-game objective instead.
