Roblox Build Playtest Button Missing
A missing Playtest button is an availability observation, not proof that the game failed to generate. Official documentation conflicts about whether testing is available. Identify the actual screen and missing control, preserve the project, and do not spend a generation message trying to unlock a platform feature.
Symptom
The intended project is present but its current interface offers no Playtest action.
Immediate action
Record the actual surface and whether the action is absent, disabled or failing after selection.
Diagnostic branches
- No test action is visible.
- Keep the status unresolved and compare current official wording without assuming a hidden entitlement.
- A disabled action has an explanation.
- Follow that legitimate explanation and preserve its wording.
- A visible action fails after selection.
- Use launch-stage diagnosis; this is not a missing-control observation.
Least-destructive change
Preserve the project and avoid paid prompts, replacement projects or wider publication as access experiments.
Retest
- The observation names the actual interface rather than a tutorial screenshot.
- Any explicit restriction is distinguished from unexplained absence.
- Untested sharing remains marked unavailable rather than passed.
Escalation
If assistance is needed, ask about the missing action with the exact surface and nonsensitive notice. Do not claim the documentation conflict proves your account is defective.
Working notes
Describe the absence precisely: the project is visible, the current screen has these controls, and no testing action is offered there. A screenshot from a tutorial or another account is not evidence that your account must expose the same interface. Do not invent a hidden menu path to match it.
Separate an absent control from a disabled control or one that responds with a notice. A visible disabled action provides different evidence from no action at all. Preserve any explanation actually shown; without one, the cause remains unknown rather than an assumed age or region decision.
The next useful decision is whether you have any authorized inspection route already available. If so, inspect the current game there while marking private-sharing coverage unavailable. If not, retain the work and the exact access question. Publishing more widely is not a substitute for a missing private test option.
When comparing guidance, record its date and surface. Support's instructions and Creator Hub's contradictory status are both relevant; selecting only the optimistic sentence would conceal the uncertainty. Recheck official wording before treating an account difference as a fault requiring content repair.
Examples
- Missing-control record: intended project / actual screen / visible controls / absent action / exact notice if any. This records what was seen, not an inferred entitlement.
- Different outcome: a Playtest control is visible but never opens a session. That belongs to start-failure diagnosis rather than the missing-button question.
- Coverage decision: available editor inspection completed; private testing unavailable and untested. A partial check is useful without claiming the absent feature worked.
