Roblox Game Thumbnail Not Updating
For a thumbnail that seems not to update, distinguish the uploaded asset, its moderation or selection state and the surface displaying it. Home presentation and the game's detail-page presentation need not be the same configuration. Verify the actual chosen image before blaming cache or repeatedly uploading duplicates.
Symptom
An expected image is not shown on the particular public surface being inspected.
Immediate action
Match the asset, presentation object, target surface and actual selection/status.
Diagnostic branches
- The wrong surface or object is being compared.
- Inspect its actual configuration rather than assuming all image fields are interchangeable.
- Upload, approval or selection is incomplete.
- Resolve the displayed state through the normal authorized workflow.
- Multiple active images are actually configured.
- Check the relevant setup before interpreting a different displayed image as failure.
Least-destructive change
Retain working assets and correct a proven configuration issue without duplicate upload loops.
Retest
- The inspected public surface matches the configured target.
- An uploaded asset is not automatically called approved or active.
- No cache lifetime, identical-viewer promise or moderation workaround is invented.
Escalation
Use official assistance with the matched asset, surface and visible status when unresolved; use the notice's process for a moderation issue.
Working notes
Identify the actual image and destination you are comparing. A game icon, detail-page thumbnail and Home thumbnail are different presentation objects. Preserve a description or local identifier of the intended asset so similar images do not hide a wrong selection.
Creator Hub documents separate Home Page and Experience Detail Page tabs for image thumbnails. Inspect the relevant surface's actual configuration and any visible moderation or validation status. An upload existing in a library does not by itself establish that it is selected or approved for the intended surface.
Where the actual configuration uses multiple active images, compare their roles before treating a different displayed image as failure. Personalization can involve different eligible images; the narrow question is whether the intended image is configured appropriately, not whether every viewer sees an identical choice. Do not infer a personalization setup without seeing it.
If the correct selected asset and status are established but the observed surface still differs, retain that evidence and its timing. Avoid repeated uploads, deleting working assets or promising a fixed refresh interval. A moderation notice should be addressed through its legitimate process, not disguised with a slightly changed file.
Examples
- Surface mismatch: the intended image appears in the detail-page configuration, while the report concerns Home. Inspect the Home configuration rather than reuploading the same file blindly.
- Selection mismatch: a new upload exists but the relevant surface still has an older image selected. Correct the actual configuration where authorized instead of changing gameplay.
